A Scarred Veteran

Hi, I’m Joni Eareckson Tada and as you’ve probably heard, I am back in the boxing ring with cancer. Thankfully, this second tumor is now removed and I’m undergoing treatment. And lately, I have felt like, as Eugene Peterson says, a scarred veteran who’s visited the extremes – extremes of chronic pain, more cancer surgery, radiation, and quadriplegia. But that’s okay.

As First Peter chapter 2 says, “to this we have been called because Christ Jesus suffered for us, leaving us an example that we should follow in his steps.” I know that what God is doing within me is far more important and lasting than anything that could be done to me. This entire battle is all about bringing glory to God. And I pray the same for you. Whatever trial you are facing, know that the good things God is doing within you are far more important than anything that will ever be done to you.

Living with Chronic Illness

At age 14 Sarah Willoughby’s world turned upside down when she fell seriously ill. Sarah went from trail running and adventuring to spending her days sick in bed. Doctors struggled to diagnose her condition until they finally discovered the culprit: toxic mold. Facing the severity of her condition, Sarah sought the Lord. She joins the podcast to share how her faith in Christ has sustained her through the trials of chronic illness, and to help you find hope amid your own hardships.
