A Rushing River Song

Hi, I’m Joni Eareckson Tada. And the fifth chapter in James says, “Is any one of you in trouble? He should pray. Is anyone happy? Let him sing songs of praise.” I love that. Because if you’re happy, God wants you to sing. Because joy is the natural outflow of a grateful heart. And happiness simply cannot help but overflow into song. Jesus says in John 7 that out of our hearts, rivers of living water would flow. And if that river is indeed rushing out from you, it’s gonna sound like something. A rushing river has its own sound. Like a brook gurgling, or a creek rippling, or a river rushing, or a waterfall roaring. And when living water flows from you, look, you’re going to be a singing Christian. That’s your sound. It’s what gratitude sounds like. Singing is what happy Christians do. So today, if you are happy, sing a song of praise. And it’ll be your rippling, rushing sound of joy.
