A Little Flower

Hi, I’m Joni Eareckson Tada. Listen to a few lines, “A little flower comes to birth, a special gift to grace the earth… created for His sole delight, the little flower blooms in sight of majesty…” Now, you may not think much of that little poem, but it was written by Karen Brown, and it describes her perfectly. You see, Karen has Multiple Sclerosis and lives in a nursing home. And when she hears about someone in that home who is feeling down —she writes words of encouragement, like gathering individual blooms to present a bouquet to that hurting person. Karen is an example of Isaiah 50 that says, “The Sovereign Lord has given me an instructive tongue, to know the word that sustains the weary.” And, Isaiah 50 should define us, too.

Do you know someone who’s feeling down? Be a flower of grace and offer helpful words.
