My husband has every kind of flashlight known to man. Hi, I’m Joni Eareckson Tada, and if you ask Ken Tada, the farther a beam of a flashlight can reach, the better. But that’s not how it was back in biblical times. Back then, an oil lamp gave off just enough light to maybe cast shadows in a small room. And that’s good to remember when reading Psalm 119: “Thy word is a lamp unto my feet.” Just my feet. God’s Word gives enough illumination for the next step on the road the Lord has put you on. The Christian walk is step by step. Galatians tells us to keep in step with the Spirit. So, for whatever decisions you are facing, have confidence in the Word of God to illumine your path, your thinking, even your outlook on the future right in front of you. Let God’s Word be a lamp for what’s up ahead. Keep in step with the Spirit, and stay on the Spirit-lit path in front of you.
