A Friend in Jesus

Hi, I’m Joni Eareckson Tada, and don’t you love having a friend that you can just be yourself with? Someone you can pour yourself out to, knowing they will handle all that you say tenderly. A person who will sift through your tumble of words and keep what’s worth keeping and then just let the rest go. Well, this is the kind of friend Jesus is, especially when we pray to him. There used to be times in prayer when I would start off all uptight, wondering if I were saying things right. And, all the time, I think Jesus was just waiting for me to pour out my heart and find comfort and safety in him. The Lord wanted me to be certain that his was a faithful hand, able to keep what was worth keeping in my prayer and, with a breath of kindness, gently blow the rest away. So today, don’t stumble over your tongue-tied efforts to make your prayer sound “just right.” Remember, you got a true friend in Jesus. That’s your little “diamond in the dust” for today.
