A Devilish Agenda
Hi, I’m Joni Eareckson Tada and know this for sure: Satan will always think the worst about you. You cannot convince him that you are trusting God for an honorable reason. Satan insists that you only trust God for the wrong reasons. That’s what he said about Job. When God brings up the subject of that faithful servant, the devil sneers, “Aw, yeah, sure, but, look, when it comes to your so-called righteous servant, it’s ‘skin for skin,’” the devil says in Job chapter 2. “That man is only interested in saving his own hide. He only trusts you because you bless him.” But Job proved the devil wrong, and he did it through the way he responded to suffering. Oh sure, Job got depressed, but he kept trusting God for the right reasons. So, friend, when God’s blessings seem to fail you and suffering overwhelms you, prove the devil wrong. God will never fail you. And that’s your honorable reason to keep trusting the Lord.
