A Bouquet of Weeds

Hi, I’m Joni Eareckson Tada, and I remember as a child picking wildflowers in our field with my mother. Oh, you know a few dandelions, wild tiger lilies, black-eyed Susans, and Queen Anne’s lace, and my mother made it all into lovely bouquet all from what really were nothing but weeds. And when you think about it, in our labors for the Lord, sometimes what we offer to him can look – or at least appear – a lot like weeds. Our service doesn’t seem worthy. But that’s a good time to remember First Corinthians chapter 4 where it says, “Therefore do not pass judgment, but wait until the Lord brings to light the motives of men’s hearts.” You see, when it comes to our so-called weeds of service, what counts is our motive. And if our motive has been pure, the Lord sees nothing but beautiful flowers.

So, keep serving, friend, he knows whether or not you’ve done things with a heart bent on pleasing him.
