42 Serving and Resting
Hi, I’m Joni Eareckson Tada. You know, I know a lot of Christians – very busy people, who are looking forward to getting some rest when they get to heaven. Like my missionary friend Rob in Albania. I get exhausted reading his prayer letters. He’s back and forth teaching and planting churches; he hardly stops. Rob likes that idea of a Sabbath rest in heaven. But I know other Christians who are looking forward to heaven for the chance to be busy. My friend Cornelius has been bedridden for 20 years. He’s unable to lift a finger to do physical service for the Lord. For him, heaven will be a wonderful place of great activity. And this is what is so heartwarming about eternity with Jesus. Heaven will be a place of active rest, yet restful activity. Peaceful, yet purposeful. Serene, all the while serving constantly. And all of it done for the glory of God. Get ready to serve and rest. Heaven is in the future for us all!
