Union University Affiliated Internship – Peru (Trujillo and Lima)

May 4, 2027 - May 14, 2027

As a Joni and Friends Intern, you will receive training on a biblical view of disability and a theology of suffering with practical application on how to evangelize and serve people with disabilities, delivering the Gospel in word and deed.

Interns receive training through the Beyond Suffering curriculum developed by the Joni and Friends Christian Institute on Disability. This core text was created to transform the way Christians view God’s plan for disability and suffering through biblical education on the theology of suffering. Union University’s EDGE students will be trained on the principles of Beyond Suffering during pre-trip meetings and online coursework.
As a capstone to the internship, Union University students serve people living with disability through a Joni and Friends International Family Retreat, connecting people with disabilities with the local church. Through this experience, the next generation of leaders have the opportunity to be the hands and feet of Jesus, meeting real needs through therapeutic intervention, education, and the life-changing message of the Gospel.
We are carefully proceeding with this internship with safety protocols in place. If Joni and Friends cancels the event we will refund or reallocate the donations in accordance with our current policies.

The cost for this outreach is all-inclusive; however, any pre-outreach vaccination requirements are the responsibility of each individual traveler. Joni and Friends will adhere to country protocols related to health and safety requirements.

“When I went to Peru, I was pushed out of my comfort zone and learned different things about myself. I learned about the strengths I have to contribute to the team and the things I am capable of.” -Union University student Ellie Brogdon
