Hardin–Simmons University-Affiliated Nursing Internship – Ghana (Winneba)

March 6, 2027 - March 16, 2027

Interns serving with Joni and Friends will receive theological training, personal mentorship, and hands-on experience in the mission field, preparing to live out Christ’s call on their lives. Every intern at Joni and Friends will use their gifts and talents to bring practical help and Gospel hope to people living with disabilities.

Interns will receive training on the biblical view of disability and a theology of suffering through the Joni and Friends Beyond Suffering course remotely prior to leaving. Hardin-Simmons University nursing students receive biblical education on a theology of suffering, using Beyond Suffering as a core text, throughout the curriculum.
In application of their knowledge, student nurses have the opportunity to be the hands and feet of Jesus, meeting real needs through therapeutic intervention at the local hospital in Winneba, Ghana. Students will participate in nursing care alongside Ghanaian physicians and nurses. Students will also serve as a 1:1 buddy where they will provide respite for the caregivers and minister the hope found in the gospel of Jesus Christ by participating in a Joni and Friends International Family Retreat.
Joni and Friends interns will have the unique experience of attending a worship service with a local church partner. They will also be able to experience many aspects of the Ghanaian culture.
