One night, Xerxes, emperor of the mighty Persian Empire, couldn’t sleep. That may seem like a random, trivial fact—but it’s not. That one night of royal insomnia set off a whole chain of events that eventually saved Queen Esther and the whole Jewish population from destruction—while decimating their enemies. He uses the most innocuous, everyday events to engineer the most earth-shattering and significant moments in your life. Dear Lord, how inexpressibly comforting this is! To think that I can trust You with all the details of my life—right down to the frustrating delays, health setbacks, traffic jams, missed flights, and unexpected glitches. Your watch-care over my life is wonderful. Why should I be anxious or discouraged? I praise You for being Lord over all of life.
