DESCRIPTION:Respite Event InformationVolunteer InformationRespite Event Information\nJoin us for a parent and caregiver respite event. We are honored to provide a safe\, welcoming\, and supportive respite experience for families living with disability. \nFrom 4:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.\, caregivers are invited to our Special Needs & Trust workshop led by Joseph Lee on legal advocacy concerns in caring for children\, young adults\, and medically fragile individuals living with disabilities. From 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.\, caregivers are encouraged to rest\, run errands\, enjoy quiet time\, or simply recharge. \nParticipants in the respite program will enjoy engaging activities\, games\, fun\, and fellowship with our caring volunteers. Registration includes dinner for all participants (kids\, young adults\, and siblings). \nRespite care is available at no cost to participating families. SUMMARY:Wheels for the World® Brazil (Abreu e Lima)
DESCRIPTION:Wheels for the World® provides life-changing mobility and the hope of the Gospel to people living with disabilities worldwide. \nJoin a Wheels for the World outreach to Brazil! \nEach volunteer plays an essential role during a Wheels for the World outreach. Serve with us in a seating therapist\, mechanic\, photographer\, seamstress\, or support role. Every team member will directly impact the lives of people living with disability. \nWhat to know about BrazilBrazil covers nearly half of South America and is the continent’s largest nation. Nearly 10% of the people in the Brazilian population live with a disability and many are confined to their homes due to the shame felt by their families and a lack of affordable mobility equipment. Additionally\, people living with disabilities are often neglected by Brazilian society and there is little initiative in creating accessibility for them. On this outreach you will have the opportunity to meet people who feel forgotten and trapped by poverty and offer hope by sharing God’s love and care for them. Join our team and use your gifts to work alongside our Brazilian partners to provide wheelchairs and Bibles to people living with disabilities.Cost and Safety ProtocolsThe cost for this outreach is all-inclusive and covers round-trip economy airfare from any city within the continental United States\, visas (if required)\, in-country transportation\, shared accommodations (double occupancy) while in-country\, meals while in-country\, and a cultural experience. However\, any pre-outreach vaccination requirements are the responsibility of each individual traveler. Outreach costs may vary for applicants traveling from outside the 48 contiguous United States. Wheels for the World will adhere to country protocols related to health and safety requirements.
